The focus of the Avon Lake "Mini" Cheer is to introduce children ages 3-5, the basics of sideline cheer in a fun and safe environment.  You do NOT need to be a resident of Avon Lake to participate.

Megan's Bio:
Hi! My name is Megan Miller and I will be your child’s cheerleading coach!  I am a former Avon Lake Varsity Football Cheerleader and cheered for 6 years and competed with the Avon Lake cheerleading squad.  During the day, I am a preschool teacher at Redwood Elementary school. In my freetime, I enjoy being with my family, my dog, and camping in Marblehead.  I am looking forward to getting to know your child! I am excited to introduce them to the concepts of cheer, the value of teamwork and the positive impact it has on our community. 

About the Cheer Program:

Participants will learn the following:

• Fundamentals of Stretching
• Motions
• Motion placement
• Voice Projection
• Jumps
• Teamwork
• Following Directions
• Have FUN

**Homework assigned – The children will receive a hand stamp, than be asked to go to their parents, grandparents etc. after “Huddle Time” and give them a HUG, KISS and say THANK YOU for bringing them.  If they forget, please send them back to see a coach.

****The day of class, you won’t be able to reach us via email or phone 45 mins before and during class.  Please see me in person after class or I will try to return your message after class or the next morning.

Sample Cheer Practice Schedule:

10:15am – 10:25am – (Family Time) 

10:25am – 10:35am- Introductions

Staff, Coaches, Teams, Uniforms, Safety & Housekeeping

(Anyone who has signed up late will have to wait till the following week for a shirt)

10:35am – 10:45am – Stretching 

10:45am – 11:10am - Cheers            

 11:10am - Bring all the teams together.  We do a hand stamp and assign them their "homework".  Their "homework" will be to give mom and dad, grandma and grandpa or whoever is there that week supporting them a "Hug and say Thank You"!

Cheering Venues:
Cheerleaders will perform at Avon Like High School and Learwood Middle School during half time of a Girls varsity and middle school game.  Girls will need to wear the cheerleading t-shirt along with either black shorts or leggings.  This will be discussed in practice.

*We will be marching in the Avon Lake Homecoming Parade on Saturday September 21st at 10am.
**We will be cheering at a Learwood Middle School Football game on either Tuesday October 1st or 8th. More details to follow

*A minimum of 7 children is needed to begin a class

Cost: $75 for the session

Spirit Wear Fees / One time fee:

Total Costs $67 (Spirit Wear - Poms) plus $75 for the class = $142.
